Theresa Qualls Counseling is a small, private practice, with myself as the sole clinician. I see only a limited numbers of people each week so that I can provide excellent care and availability to my clients. I can usually see someone the same week that they call. I do not work with insurance, but I do provide you with a receipt that contains appropriate coding to seek reimbursement yourself. This protects the privacy of your medical records and allows me to focus solely on providing emotional care. Prior to becoming a therapist, I enjoyed careers in administration, teaching, and missions. I have worked as a therapist since 2008 when I received a Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology from The Seattle School of Theology and Psychology.
My Passion
I love getting invited into people's life stories, and assisting them to explore their own heart's true desires. I am committed to providing a safe, nurturing, accepting space for you to receive empathy and accompaniment in whatever suffering or problem has you stuck. My Beliefs
1) I believe you are created in God’s image—a relational, embodied, person of dignity (goodness, integrity), struggling also with darkness (self-sabotage, self-deception); 2) I believe your heart matters—that what you feel is telling you something true about you and your relationships; 3) I believe who you are and how you relate with others was formed early on— primarily in relationship with your mom & dad... where none of us got all we needed, and all of us defended ourselves from this lack in ways that still hurt us & those we love; 4) I believe we understand who we are in relationship with others— and that growth, or change, happens also in relationship with others; 5) I believe psychotherapy, or counseling, is a safe place to be known relationally—therapy is a relational conversation of acceptance, exploration, challenge, and growth.

Individual sessions are $150 for 50 minutes of counseling. In individual therapy you are the expert of your life and the driver of the session. My role is to accompany you in the stories or struggles you share with me & offer back to you what I hear or see about your true desires or unmet needs. As your sense of self is nurtured & underst

Couples's sessions are $200 for 50 minutes of counseling. In couples's therapy my role is to help each person clarify what their needs & desires are and find ways to communicate those to the other so that they can be heard. This inevitably involves some individual work in addition to the couple's work. Once each partner truly hears the heart of the other, forgiveness & desire re-emerge.

When counseling children I like to meet with parents first to discuss the family dynamic, my approach, the particular boundaries with minors, & issues of confidentiality. I, then, can meet with the child alone, or with parental accompaniment, depending on preference. As the ch

As the child & I work together on the issue, it's common to have another family session later to assist the child in communication of needs/desires.
